How much boost stock?
How much boost stock?
As far as i know my balt never had a stage kit put on it and only has a Injen intake... How much boost should i show at redline? Im pretty sure i hit about 16psi its a little hard to watch the pillar and not bouce off the rev limiter at the same time. 2007 ss/sc by the way.
He's right. 12.5 is stock. I have a stage 2 with basically full bolt ons and what not and my boost is at 15 until it creeps up to 17 from 6500-7000rpms. You've got something fishy going on. GM Stage 2s peak at 15psi.
ya, a restricted cat is bad
the extra boost from a bad cat is causing a higher boost reading becaus the spent gases can not exit the conbustion chamber/head effectivley.
this type of "extra" boost causes exessive heat, knock retard, poor performance and poor mpg

stupid me, i knew that -__- for some reason i was still on the malfunctioning bypass/wategate issue. do yuo really think i have a clogged cat at 7k miles? Im not even sure its the stock exhaust i havnt been able to get under it yet, does not seem to be the stock muffler.
its just an idea and something to check
there is an 8yr/80,ooo mile warranty on emmisions
if you have a warranty have your dealer check your symtoms, aka higher boost levels, and ask them if they will check for proper exhaust flow
that is my suggestion

Ill attempted this, when i brought my last balt in for a clogged cat they asked me how i knew, i told me i was getting like 16mpg and it sounded like ****, they told me it was find. then i brought it there for boosting over 20psi, and they told me to drive slower till the part comes in, it blew up on the way home, i got a letter in the mail 2 months later telling me they part as arrived at the dealership. woe is me, but ill go and try haha, first ill check for screws in the pulley, and how else can i tell if it had a stg2?
black injectors instead of the bright green injectors, 7000 rpm redline
take it easy on it until you get it at least checked out
insist on getting it pyrometer tested and flow tested....because you had one blow up before ya know?!
good luck, going to bed peace

*note, ive seen that the new flashes for stage two are back to the stock redline, not 7grand
interesting about the s2 reflash to stock redline.
wonder why they did that?!
did you check your pulley and stuff?
i went the stage 1 and pressed a 3" pulley on ....saw 15ish and 6900ish redline
stock was 12-13ish and definately 6500revs/redline

Green injectors and stock pulley, i set up a vid and pointed it at the boost gauge, 12.5psi three pulls and 14psi two pulls. Found a cool guy at a performance chevy dealer said my exhaust flow is perfect and my boost is fine. He said its normal/im lucky that it spikes to 15 sometimes and not to worry about it.
I only hit 10lbs stock...if its really cold outside I hit the 12.5, but it's gotta be below thirty. And no, I don't go racing stupid ppl in that cold of weather, but I do have a lead foot and a short temper so slow ppl get passed lol
