i would recommend changing it around 50k, gm recommends the fluid be changed at 50k for sever service and we all know how we drive our cars. lol

Why not try reading the drivers manual that came with the car? There's lots of useful information in there.

LOL, why not? Some people wait till the last 5% on the oil life meter & have no problems.

anything less that a 75w90 and GL4/GL5 approved fluid will screw this tranny up. requires 2 quarts BONE DRY so it should only need about 1.75 quarts

just did this on mine. as usual, the car isn't really designed for ease of maintenance.

I used the gm fluid - i would be shocked if the 75 w 90 was the same weight - the stock stuff was much thinner than i expected. you may need to cut down a 8 mm allen wrench as well, not a lot of room to play.

as far as fill quantity, expect to use damn near the full 2 qts. official capacity is listed as 1.9 qts, and thats just about when it started to dribble out of the upper fill hole. (filling to this point is the recommended procedure)

on a side note, the service manual also recommends using a sealant on the drain plugs - didn't notice that part until i had mine refilled.

GM stuff is the same price as Mobil 1, there's no reason to buy other stuff unless your local dealer was trying to charge $20/qt like mine was.

OEM , i did mine cause i wanted to be safe . I used 2 quarts of the saturn oil and had just a little left over . It's hard to get all the old oil out . My tranny was noisy since new , and changing the oil quieted it down a bit .

Just use the GM stuff. There's no reason to buy the more expensive oil that doesn't do anything special.
