Need more info. What trim level (2.2/2.4/2.0), mods if any. HPTuners is a tuining program not just a bolt on mod that you do once and let go. It can benefit any style driver from a daily grocery getter to non-street legal drag car setups. You need minor tuning knowledge to get your feet wet enough to fully learn later but it's not a simple plug-n-play item.

Btw, tuning is not available for the 2.2 from HP Tuners. SCT is rumored to be working on tuning abilities for the 2.2.

Custom tuning FTW, different elevations and different car setups always plague the mail order tunes. If you have a wideband then HPTuners is going to be your best friend. Tuning by feel isn't the best way to do it because you don't know what you're doing to your engine, while you may feel an increase in speed/power your car may be dying so be careful.

A good HPTuners tune will run better all the way around than a factory or GM Staged Kit tune. Just be careful with who you have tune it.

I have to disagree the GM stock or stage tune is reliable and put through a lot of tests before it's released to anyone. It's also model specific and yes there are differences between all the model/years for the LSJ.

I wasn't arguing that the GM tune wasn't good for it's intended purpose. I was simply stating that it can definitely be improved upon and tailered to the individual car.

I'd go with the GM Stage 2. You sound like you just want a little more but dont want to have any chance of ruining your baby.

If you ever feel the need to go a little faster I've tuned alot cars around here and I always worry about making power after I establish your car will run safe day to day with no CEL's and no problems.

so why are you trying to making a little cobalt fast lol. You got plenty of fast there. Granted its a little more fun when you whoop ass with a boy racer car cuz they dont suspect it. If a 67 nova pulled up next to me I know what Im getting myself into lol.
