HP Tuners

Hi, I've had my SS/SC for a while now but have not done a single mod to it. I joined the forum a while ago and have been just reading around, so kinda be patient with me if I'm re posting or anything.

I would like to know if any of you have any experience with HP tuners and if you would recommend it. I haven't been able to find a good review anywhere. I'm familiar with tuning but not on an LSJ. Anything will help.

Thanks Again.

well, hp tuners is the software/hardware you need to adjust the peramiters of the car. think of it as a wrench, if you learn to use it, its great, if you dont know how things arent going to work out so well. you wont really find reviews because its the only tuning product for the car where you can do it yourself. from what ive read, efi live doesnt support the cobalt and trifeca is just the hardware with a guy on the other end tuning.

it is very complex, im just beginning to tune my ss/sc. its not as simple as a handheld tuner where you answer some questions and it configures a tune for you, you need to manually configure the tables yourself based on scanner data. things like changing to larger injectors arent as simple as one setting, entire tables need to be changed.

im not trying to discourage you. id recommend going to the hp tuners forum and reading. 5 topics to look around for are
1)injector settings
2)ve table tuning
3)maf calibration
4)power enrichment tuning
5)spark table tuning

read over that stuff, see if you can make sense of any of it. if not, then there are still options. there are people that are willing to e-mail tune your car, along with people to help you along the way. or the other option is to pay a tuner to tune your car when you need it.

You don't know how much I appreciate that. I understand tuning isn't easy but this helped a lot! Maybe I won't blow my LSJ lol, I'm going to buy HP tuners and have a professional shop tune for Injectors and Harrop supercharger.

Well lets put it this way, if you wanna tune the car yourself, HP tuners is your only option, so if you plan on self tuning your stuck with it either way. No one bothers reviewing it because there's really no other option. You can get a trifecta tune, but its all email tuning and you can't do any of it yourself. And before you start tuning, you HAVE to get a wideband A/F gauge, otherwise you'll have no way of knowing your actual A/F ratio.

Ahh I see lol. Well I guess HP tuners it is.

Yea I kinda figured an A/F gauge was going to be needed. On another note, what do you think of the Interceptor gauge system. I'm about to order it but I haven't asked anyone that has it/knows about it if its any good.

i love mine. never had an issue with it, and it displays what i need. also handy for reading and clearing codes when you dont have hp tuners handy. it also has functions for warning lights, i have mine set as a shift light, however it isnt that acurate for it.

Interceptors are a fantastic gauge, I would consider them another vital gauge. The majority of LSJ owners do Stock boost gauge, wideband, and interceptor, and us LNF guys run dual interceptors and the stock boost gauge, there really is no more useful gauge for these cars, I wish they worked with every car.

That's awesome I just ordered the dual interceptor, the ZZP 3 gauge pod, and a new boost gauge, my stock one decided it didn't want to work anymore.

did you order the wideband attachment for it? Because you still need a way to read A/F ratios
