hurst STS install problem
So, I cant seem to get my knob off at all. I have a 2006 ss/sc and i guess im supposed to have a t20 on the top of the knob. well underneath the cap there is no screw. I tried to pry it up and i have broken my screwdrivers. Has anybody else had the hardest time getting this done? I followed the install guides and i can get to linkage out and i can see the four screws that hold the plate for the shifter on. But this knob is driving me crazy and any help will be great.
I had to pry mine off. The best tactic that I found was to stick the assembly in a mounted vice.
You need two standard screwdrivers. Jam them up into the knob on opposite sides of the shifter. Pry up and outward from the shifter with both of them at the same time.
You'll need thicker screw drivers if you're breaking them, lol.
Let us know how it goes.

mine is an 05 and mine came off in my hand . The dealership replaced the shift rod with one that has a hole in it that the knob screws to. This is the same for yours I think they made the change in late 06. Just hit it with a mallet inder the knob. It is just splined onto the shift knob.
