1.turn the ignition key to off, then disconnect the cable fromt he negative battery.
2.raise front of vehicle and place on jackstands. on 2.0 lsj, drain intercooler coolant and remove ic pump.
3.disconnect battery cable (larger cable) and starter control cable (smaller cable) from starter motor solenoid termials
4.remove the starter mounting bolts and remove starter. on 2007 models, may have to remove secondary air injection pump (disconnect electrical connectors, hoses and 2 mounting bolts) to allow room for starter removal.
5.install is reverse of removal. tighten starter bolts to torque spec-30ft-lbs for all and 2006+ lsj-37ft-lbs.
6.when battery has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn-
a.-start engine and allow to warm up to normal operating temp.
b.-drive at part throttle until normal performance returns.
c.-park and apply parking brake with engine running.
d.-on manual trans, put in nentral. on auto trans, put in drive.
e.-allow engine to idle for about two minutes, or until idle stabilizes.

Dont have to drain the intercooler, you can just unbolt the pump and move it out of the way.
