Welcome!
These modds I have found to be GREAT for a daily driver.
Injen Intake, GM Exhaust Manifold, 3" cat back, 2.6 pulley, 60lb Siemens injectors, 2 step colder spark plugs, and that her to get a custom dyno tune. To be on the safe side you should run the GM dual pass aftercooler plate with the larger resevoir tank and 15 psi cap. With these modds you will be around 280 to 300whp. Just take it easy on the launch or you'll snap our WEAK ass axels.

Correct, you also might want to invest in some mounts, and wheel hop elminating mods.
yea get the control arm bushings for $200 thru intense-racing.com
but race him, get some seat time as these cars are pretty difficult to launch, and then u can go from there...
for a DD, i would just go 2.7 pulley, 60# injectors, colder plugs and a custom tune from a reputable shop in your area.

u guys are giving some serious advice to a beginner. it's like throwing a double cheeserburger at an anerexic. running a 2.6 (with supporting mods) is not your most reliable option. if you are looking for some quick horsepower without problems, stay around a 2.7 or 2.8 pulley setup.
search the site for different options. there are thousands of threads that will help you educate yourself. for simplicity, you probably want to stay with a kit. dont start piecing things together and hope for a custom tune.
GM stage 2 is a good upgrade if you want a warranty. im assuming you are not worried about this. the following companies offer kits for the cobalt ss/sc.

all are reputable and sell good products. i would say take your pick from one of the 3. then go out and smoke that genius driving the eclipse.
good luck and have fun man.
