I must have gotten lucky on mine. Once Tim got ahold of my Cobalt my 60# Injector idle is SMOOOOTH now! Go Tim!

There is no GM stage 2 clutch so who ever told you this was giving you BS. If you really want to figure out your messed up idle then carb cleaner spray will do alot more than water as when you spray the bad line the idle/RPMS will jump cause it's letting in combustible gas where it should not if you have allready cleaned the TB/MAF. Does your so called custom tune allow for the the A/C idle drop and issues that are known for turning on the A/C and being on a stock or GMPP+ setup? And as far as a Factory boost gauge not reading good enough mine allways read right on.. Cold ventura nights netted me 17 PSI on GMS2 factory tune and i had to still had to have it re-flashed even once i was the first 07 GMPPS2 ion redline and just to get it to idle right as it was a known issue even on 42's.. Just saying..

Thanks for help man, I definitely love this forum. Tons of info on here.

I pulled 270 on ZZP's dyno and you have some stuff done to yours that I don't
When I pulled on ZZP's Dyno I had
  • Simmens 60# Injectors with Harness
  • NGK 1 Step Cooler Plugs
  • ZZP 2.85" Pulley
  • ZZP 3" Intake
  • ZZP Long Tube Header w/ Catted Downpipe to Stock Exhuast
  • OTTP Stg 1 H/E
  • Dual Pass Intake Endplate
  • LSJ Pheonalic Intake Spacer
  • ZZP Stage III Custom Tune by Turbo Tim
  • GMPP Clutch

So If you have a ported head and full exhaust, you should pull more then I did on the exact same dyno.
Also the 850 Idle is STOCK tune.
I have a Custom ZZP tune and my idle is 1000. Stays pretty regular unless I turn on the AC. When I'm moving, my car idles about 1200 rpm. Sometimes when the engine is cold while warming up the idle will be arround 1100 to 1200. If that's whats happening to yours you should be okay.
But I see in another post Tim set the idle high to help smoothen out the idle so I guess that's why.
Hmm, that's odd but I know that a lot of what you put up on the dyno also has to do with weather on that particular day such as humidity, heat, etc. I am just going by what Ryan told me. He showed me the dyno slip. Honestly the car pulls really hard and feels to be over 260. I'm glad to know I'm not the only person with the higher idle from the ZZP tune though.

My Idle is smooth, it was jumpy before I cleaned the TB but it's all good now.

I may have been mistaken on the clutch. I was told it was a stage 2 but I'm not 100% I was told it was GMPP. I used to have a stock SS/SC and I can attest that the clutch in this car is more stiff than the stock one, or at least it feels like it. And yes the tune allows for the idle to drop when the A/C or heat is turned on.

my apologies on the stage 2 clutch part. I originally bought a spec stage 2+ however decided against it since I didnt want the "clutch chatter" issue some people were getting, so I installed the GM Upgraded Clutch from CrateEnginedepot.

Tim said the car had some more in it however there were a couple factors that prevented this. First was the weather. I was there the first week of July and it was 90+ by mid afternoon when we strapped car down. Although the car has ported head and heat exchanger it needs more cooling mods. We saw quite a bit of heat soak. Second I wanted to stay somewhat conservative on the tune. I was more then happy with the numbers the car put down. To be honest I had already spoke to Tim about putting a turbo kit on the car in the spring, however decided I would like to get back into the V-8's for awhile so put car up for sale and i'm currently looking into buying a 03-04 cobra.
