IC pump confusion
OK... I've gotta few questions bout the IATs and the IC pump
I'm pretty sure my pump is on the way out. Can the pump be running, but less efficiently?
I jumped the relay and heard the pump running, but the IATs just aint comin down like they used too......
Correct me please, but your IAT-1 should be within a few degrees of ambient air temp??
Last night, I was in a parking lot Idling, when I noticed that not only were my IAT-2 numbers going out of whack, but so where my IAT-1 number.
I use, for short form and numbers IAT-1 OVER IAT-2. They were in the 80 / 91 range last night. But, when I was parked, they sky rocketed to 125 / 145. Why would my IAT-1 rise like that? I have CAI and every cooling mod under the sun FYI.
Could it be the MAF? Could the hydro-shield be dirty?
When I finally got the car back on the highway, the temps came down to more moderate means. 80 / 102, but that's still a 22 degree spread...... not acceptable in my books.
ANY help would be appreciated... if more info is needed, just post and I'll input as much as i can....
Thanks in Advance!!!

When idling, iat2 will be high regardless.. when you get some air flowing through the heat exchanger actually making the system work, that's when it's low(er)..
and a 22* spread isn't thaaat bad.. especially when it's 80*..
Past couple days here it's been like 90+ and iat2's are like 120-130..
But when it's like 60-70*, iat2's are like 80-90..
Sounds to me like your pump is working perfectly fine

You'd be lucky to have a 10* spread between the two, IAT2 will shoot way up when idling like TStone had mentioned. Remember to your CAI is metal, it soaks up the heat pretty good when your not moving.

1. Your fans might of been on heating up the CAI.
2. I see 20-30* difference when driving around (you only get close numbers if running phenolic)
3. I usually get 120* or a bit more when sitting for a while.
4. If you havent checked the filter in a while then check it. Always keep up on preventative maintenance.

The fans coming on and heating the engine bay sounds like you hit the nail right on the head.
And for cooling, I'm running ZZP S3, dual pass, Opt B, and the phenolic spacer. Nuff ya think?? Lol
Thank you every one for the input. Thats why I love this place.
One more question. Can the IC Pump lose efficientcy??

IAT2 can be within 30's from the IAT1....It might skyrocket up to one 150 while sitting, u gotta remmeber that intake is sucking hot air when ur not moving...Good coolng mods that are lefy for you to do if you chose are : M62 spacer, Meth/Water Injection, E85....Or some nitrous
The stock pump can loose efficiency over time and the brushes wear out and slow the flow down...

Like any pump, as the pump wears the efficiency can decrease so the answer would be yes. To a significant degree with normal wear? I would think you could see some variation in the temps due to the reduced output of the pump.
I have more or less the same mods as you and I was seeing a 15 to 20 deg difference in IAT1 and IAT2 temps on average. My pump was cutting out so I have ordered a new one from ZZP to see if it cures the problem. I'm adding Opt B at the same time.

The more I think about it, the more I think it was most likely that I was sitting, idling for so long..... Normally, I stop and shut down right away. Just spooked the be-jeebus out I'd me when I seen them temps.
