Ingalls ED makes my engine louder?

I just installed my Ingalls ED and I love it, no wheel hop, no grinding noises.

BUT it sounds as if my motor is louder? Is this possible?

you may be getting more vibratioon that could translate into some noise other than that it shouldn't have any direct reason to make your engine louder

The slight increase in vibration does appear to make the motor sound louder.

It's a engine damper, i.e. no more wheel hop!

Ah, I am having a small problem with mine now... Whenever I launch the rpms drop and my car feels slower.... maybe this dampner isn't for me. Ouch

My brace isn't too tight, it is at the setting it was at when I took it out of the box. If it was too tight, I'd just be spinning wheels right?

Let me guess, it sounds like like your exhaust can be heard near the feet of the pasenger side? Thats what I have. It just the vibration going more directly into the chasis.

I have no problems like merc described. When you layed the dampener up against the 2 braces that where supplied after you screwed them down did the holes of the dampener line up 100% perfect with the holes on the brace, or did you force them to fit? I had to do much adjusting to get them just right.

I have a problem with noises. It definately fixed wheel hop and have no problems down low but I hear/feel under my foot vibrations when I accelorate from 2000-4000 rpm and also when taking a turn hard. It still accellorates and turns fine I just hear noises at htose times. Is that normal?

The holes lined up perfectly.

The noises I now know are normal, basically the motor now has a direct metal connection to the frame which could cause all sorts of noises

Well if you end up going to the track we will ride in each others cars and compare vibrations LOL.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it basically takes away the flexibility of the stock motor mounts, so the engine doesn't twist when you launch. The mounts are soft for comfort and quietness, which I'm sure is great for the 2.2 models, but it hurts our cars' performance.

Our mounts are oil filled and ridiculously flexible. Anyone who has pulled out the one under the ECU knows what i'm talking about. The engine dampener is kind of a "shock" (if you will) that absorbs the energy produced by the engine. The issue with a single torque brace is that it still allows the engine to twist a bit because the other side isn't braced. This COULD account for the loud noise you're experiencing. I'm guessing you do have it set a bit too tight as well. Even with the dual brace if you are riding this car all the time you're going to need more. If you expect the dampener to take the brunt of your engine movement (and you are if that's all you've got on there), you're going to find yourself replacing the dampener every couple of years. A dual brace will greatly reduce this issue, but once again if you're going at it hardcore YOU NEED MORE!!! Filling your mounts with urethane (get construction grade not window weld) and letting that cure will rid your wheel hop issues indefinitely. Hope that helps!

Ben

Alright, at this point I have no problems with the Ingalls at all.

Actually it has completely changed my driving experience.

*Shifts are noticeably smoother
*Eliminates this shaky occurance that happens between 1st to 2nd gear
*You notice the power of the car more due to the thrusts and shakes that are now apparent.

Mine shows up tomorrow and I cant wait. I have the RSM Tranny mount too so these 2 together should take away all wheel hop. I get vibrations now but im used to them so no biggie. The rsm pretty much took care of like 80% of the wheel hop but this looks kewl under the hood and any extra cant hurt.

You need vibrations lol, this isn't a luxury car! its a quick little "race car"

I actually hated how quiet the car was when I first got it, now it is just how it should have been!

I got my dampner from Turbotechracing.com! I HIGHLY reccomend them as they have the best prices and customer service from any store I have ever dealt with!

Well...you're still only bracing one side of the engine. The other mounts are just as crappy as the top one you'd be replacing. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to open the door to prices you won't believe on this stuff....just waiting for a paypal addy to mail vendor payments to....

And to answer your question, if you're running hard you should be using both a dampener and motor mounts.
