Injectors q&a

So, I am going to be ordering my 42.5 lb injectors from intense this weekend, and my question is..with running a 2.9 pulley and K&N CAI is the fuel that the 42 injectors put out going to be enough fuel where i wont be lean (with HP software). Or should i cancel and run the 60's. I just want to make sure im doing this rite.

order the 60's because chances are you will want to go bigger in the feature also you won't have to worry about being lean for a while.

Yeah just get the Intense 42.5 for now. They are cheap, and will be plenty of fuel. You will probably run out of fuel if you throw a 2.7 on but I ran a 2.6 and the 42s for a long time before I got 60s.

i read ur sig wrong i thought u had hp tuners if so that is defiantely the way to go. As for being maxed out with those injectors i say no look at some older post that rob made he had a smaller pulley and realativly the same mods and he was not maxed.

not to high jack the thread but my bro is a good tuner and ordered hp tuners for my car we did some baseline runs and the log that we went over said my injectors were 126% to duty cycle how is that possible? I thought there would at least be room for a little improvement over a stock tune but the injectors are maxed does anyone know why they would be maxed stock.

I know that the 42's (come with injector harness which is necessary) we sell will be fine as we have tested them with a 2.8 pulley and there is still plenty of room left for an upgrade in pulley size if needed . I believe there are a couple of different 42's out there , the ones we carry are 42 at 43 psi and the lsj runs at 60 psi which makes them around 50 so you will be fine with the 2.9 and then some with ours as tested . Just make sure you edit the IFR table correctly and you will be good to go .

Good Post. I think this verifies what I thought before. I believe the GM injectors are rated for the LSJ fuel rail pressure. This is why people are maxxing injectors out so fast.

Along with some tuning of course as changing your pulley diameter leans out your afr both WOT and part throttle (due to higher part throttle boost) reguardless what injectors you have as I have seen first hand . Make sure you have tuning software and a dyno in your area or a tuner and dyno to rent in your area to efficiently dial it in for optimum and safe performance results .

Can I put 42 lb injectors in my car and run them until I can get a tune? I'm a little worried that I may be running lean right now given my mods, and I have the GMPP exhaust on the way so I'm really worried about leaning out at high rpms. Does anyone know if I can do what I have in mind? I just don't want to lean out.

Bump

Anyone have an idea? I kinda want to know so I can either put the injectors in or hold what I have until I can do both the injectors and the tune.

Go ahead and use the 42's unless you plan on going to a 2.5" or smaller. See my thread for help with your questions:

I think his question was answered, I'm trying to see if I can run 42 lb injectors a 3" pulley and no tune. I'm worried about running lean.

Denny is running I believe a 3" with a CAI on stock injectors with no problems. He's got that article on the front page. 42# should be more than enough with a 3".

I saw his article, but my issue is "no tune" I'm waiting for Doc to come down and tune my car with HP tuners, but I don't want to run lean in the mean time. Denny also has a Maf t, not a route I'm willing to go. I've asked Enuffpwr his opinion and he said hands down tune the PCM. I beleive him, he's one of the fastest guys around, and a pioneer. I know that with a tune the 42 lb injectors are fine, but I want to run them without a tune until Doc gets down here. If it's a no go I'll wait till he gets down here to put any injectors in, if not in they go and tune when Doc gets here.

You will end up running rich without a tune , not lean when going to a 42 injector . The computer will give the injectors a duty cycle for a lesser flowing injector than you have , therfore it will end up in a result of flowing more fuel . The PCM will try to result in correcting for this but the car will not run right and will result in actually running rich (occasionally bogging, hesitation and hurt fuel economy), pending your mods , a smaller pulley will end up leaning you out which the injectors will help , BUT , at idle and part throttle conditions you will run rich , and at wot you will most likely come close to balancing out or at least be safer . This will result in fouled out plugs and possibly o2's as well . You really should tune it to recalibrate the injector flow rate table to let the PCM know what the flowrate of the injector is that you are currently running .
