Installed Intense stage 3 few questions

I installed the intense stage 3 kit last night but i have a few questions. Not sure if i have a problem.

#1 When i accelerate and get up to about 15 psi it feels like the power just falls of and the engine feels a little wierd.

Is this because the belt is slipping.

#2 When i accelerate hard black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Why is this? does the maf translator need to be adjusted.

#3 I get a little KR if i hit the gas and then let off right away. Is this normal or does the Maf translator need adjusted. Also what on the maf Translator needs adjusted to correct this.

Thanks for any help

Matt

1, Your belt is slipping, get a tensioner.
2. Your running too rich, you need wideband to adjust it,
3. The little KR is normal it should jump to like 3 when u punch it and then drop riht now, thats normal.
4. If you experience problems after punchin ur car hard to speeds of over 120 and you feel it misfires and feels slow, turn the ignition off then back on, itll restart your PCM which had richened out ur car to save the pistons.

1) Boost bypass mod needed

2) Black smoke is good as long as the afr is above 11.5. That means it is running rich What are your 02 readings?

3)What i've seen a few times, what we call "burst KR", If it drops to 0 within 1-2 secs, it's ok, more than that, to lean! or to hot! This is why some kind of scan gauge should be a first mod! Fuel quality differs greatly from area to area, engines combos vary, what works on 1 car perfect, may not on another! Scan scan scan

Well, you need to... With a scan guage preferably AeroForce Tech OBD-II Scan Guage, Intense sells them and you also need to invest in a wideband A/F guage or you could say good bye to your LSJ...

If you correctly searched you would of found a few threads covering how to tune the Intense kit without a dyno and what guages are needed to monitor your engine so you can keep everything happy....

I don't care who makes the kit or how much it was tested, you need to know what YOUR car is doing and what it likes. They are ALL different. Thats why all this good info about scan gauge and wideband should be like the 10 commandments to us!

Thou shalt not mod thy vehicle w/o a scan gauge

Thou shalt not race or run a pulley smaller then 2.85 w/o a wideband

KR is always displayed on my Aeroforce. thank goodness, i don't see any at WOT. I do get a little at 50% tps, usually about 1-2deg

When i tried the 2.5", i had 0KR from 3500-6000, then the wideband went to 14.0+ and i got 3deg kr! Man did the sc whine like a little #####

I use the scan gauge. Its not really the KR that i am worried about but it is that i am running really rich and need to adjust the maf translator.

Can i read my A/F with the scan gauge or do i need a wideband.

To read A/F your gonna need a wideband...

Fast06SS, posted how to tune with both a wideband and the Aeroforce...

Here is the thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lsj-performance-tech-47/tuning-tips-intense-kit-13016/

You should be worried about KR!
