jb weld on my downpipe

hey my exhaust has the tiniest leak in between the dp and catback, i replaced the gasket and cranked it tight and its still leaking, would some jb weld do the trick? it says its safe up to 500 degrees

jb weld would work fine, but if you ever have to take it apart you're going to have to cut it. and make sure you let it dry overnight before driving, otherwise the leak will spit it all off anyways and it will be a total waste of time

Exhaust gases are about 1400F when they leave your combustion chamber.

I have hit my exhaust with my IR temp reader which goes to about 450F and it's over temp so the chance it's over 500 is pretty good.

Go to pep boys they have a certain product made just for that. I used it on all of my flanges and it worked wonders. had it on for about 1000 miles and no leaks.

my friend used jb weld on his exhaust maifold once. It smelled so bad you could not stay in the truck. JB weld is some toxic stuff. Just make sure whatever you use is made for high temps.

jb will not work!! i know this for a fact from past experience. yes it does smell for the frist hour or so but after that your downpipe is going to get it hot enough that it will turn to dust. does wonders for about 100 miles after that turns to chalk. but good luck bro

have you ever burned yourself on a downpipe? it melts skin instantly. jb weld will not work.
