Im not sure what the springs are, but if there like the supertech 78# springs, all you will need is balance shaft delete or the netural balance shafts and you can take it to 8k how reliable will it be, not to sure

GM recommends not spinning the stock balance shafts at engine speeds past 7500 RPM.

no, gm recommends not sustaining rpms higher than 7500 for extended periods of time. selective read just nailed you.

No, the better question is what is considered an extended period of time? One second? Two seconds? If you want to rev to 8K you need to put in neutral balance shafts or delete them entirely.

There are always two ways to do things. The half-assed way and the right way. I always figure that if you are going to do it, might as well do it right. If you want to do it half assed then that is your choice. Your motor not mine.

I'm sure that occasional blips up into the 7600 - 7700 range is ok, but the OP stated he wants to go to 8K. If he wants to go 8K I can assume he is going to be driving the car hard. I would definately do neutral balance shafts in that situation.
