Just got back from the Dyno

Well to be honest I'm a little upset over the results. I'm hoping a 2.85, heat exchanger and a tune will bring it up a lil more. I would scan the sheet but I don't have a scanners, haha.

Stock Dyno last year: 223whp/197tq

Stage 2, injen cai, full exhaust (vibrant + megan): 245whp/215tq.

Basically a 22whp and 18tq gain at about $1700 invested. What do you guys think? I was just expecting a little bit more I guess but it's all good.

your numbers are inflated because it's either the dyno, the operator or lack of actual mods to put down the numbers you were hoping to achieve. What kind of dyno? Sounds like a Mustang dyno to me.

Well I still love my car. I think I was just being a little too cocky about what kinda numbers I was going to get. You guys think a smalelr pulley and a tune could really open her up?

It was a dynojet. Yea same dyno both times. Temps were actually better today than my first visit.

It all in the tuning. The power is there, just the Stage 2 tune isn't allowing it all to come out. Dynos are just a tuning tool. Every dyno is different, so just stick with the same one and get a good tune. What you need to do is lay the last graph onto the first one to see all the low end torque you gained over stock. I bet you'll be more than impressed with that and see that in certain areas you gained more than you are seeing by looking at jsut the peak numbers.

If you think those numbers are bad I only laid down 238whp on the Mustang dyno I go to with a 2.6" pulley and a ton more mods than you have and thawas full tuned with HPTuners as well!

Yea man I'm sure you're right. And yea I'm looking at the graph right here and the low end torque gain is huge, haha. Thanks for the input guys.

How much did you gain down low for torque in the highest area if you don't mind me asking. I'm telling you that increase in torque you see is what'll make the car a hell of a lot faster. Horsepower sells and torque moves is my motto.

About 30 from 2500 to 3500, and a consistent 18-20 throughout the rest of the graph.

Very nice gains if I do say so myself. With a tune and a smaller pulley you might see similar gains like I did. I gained roughly 90-100wtrq after some tuning with a 2.6" pulley and other mods.

Look at the official dyno page. I only put down 10 more hp than you and 21 more torque with 3k in mine. Gains are expensive in the cobalt. I have over 5k invested now. I'm hoping to see better numbers in the spring/summer. Still you have to be realistic. Even with all my mods, the best I hope for is 280/265 being realistic. I don't even plan to see over 300 until I get up closer to 10k. Maybe, that will hit 340whp. So, you are looking at about 12/10 per $1000 dollars in the long run. You are a little ahead right now if you consider that.

DONT USE DYNO NUMBERS TO SHOW PERFORMANCE GAINS!! USE TRACK NUMBERS!!

A dyno is doing nothing more than guessing what your HP is. There is a crap load of things that can effect the actual dyno numbers. You want to measure performance gains go to the track. Your trap speed is the biggest indicator of performance gains. You dont need to run a good ET to see the effects of the mods. IF stock you ran 14.5@99MPH now with your mods you should be running 13.X@103-104MPH. Thats alot more than 20hp to add 4-5MPH to a trap.
