according to the people who seem to be the most knowledgable about this... getting an aftermarket dp is a waste of money? I am waiting to buy a header/dp but after reading all about this, i guess an aftermarket header is where there is power to be gained. someone correct me if i'm wrong please.

you will certainly gain hp/tq from a header. Im sure that you will have to see some kind of HP increase fomr a DP, but for most people they could have spent their money in other places. if u have lets say like a 2.6 and a ported blower witht he rest of the reg. boltons id say yeah a dp would be worth it.

but this is coming fomr a guy who has stock exhaust and a stock cobalt...

atleast someone agrees. I dyno'ed them nothing doing. The head is the problem. port that to justify getting a 3inch exhaust.

most i might say is get a cat back but honestly that exhaust is the least of anyones Problems up untill a certain point. if i could do it all again........

got spare head for the 2.0
Ported it
3inch pully
42pound injectors
free tune from BCP Performance

Guarenteed 260+ wheel for anyone and there momma with out even trying and none of the heat that the smaller pulleys bring because out head flow is garbage.

**** if i got a ported head and 42 pounders id be all up in 275 wheel up from my 262. And im only reving to 6800 rpms and thats cause im just plain out of fuel. but porting the exhaust side aint that easy since theres an oil passage near one of those ports so were damned if we do damned if we don't anyway.

So you honestly believe that your 262whp Coby will produce less power with a freer flowing exhaust? Why not just run 2" piping front to rear? A nice smooth 2' pipe will be less turbulent and therefore less restrictive than a couple of 2" choke points (think kinks in a garden hose.)

Any pipe, your exhaust included, will only flow as much as its most restrictive part. So If you've got a header and 2.5"-3" piping front to rear, what is the most restrictive part?

As far as me driving a 2.4; I drive what I like. I paid cash for my 2.4, did you do the same? I could have purchased a car costing twice as much - for cash if I chose to. I have been building and racing n/a and f/i vehicles before you were old enough to ride a tricycle, so I think I know a few things about engines.

I chose my car not for performance, but for mileage, style and the oft maligned auto tranny. Performance came last after the other conditions were met. If I just wanted to go fast, I would have kept my goat, or my built 454ci GMC pickup, but the mileage sucked on both.

I made a statement of fact, not a personal attack. If you can't take criticism, of what others believe to be a dumb post - then don't make dumb posts. Maybe us lemmings disagree with you for a reason?

I really like my Corsa touring, but it is probably not worth the money (on a hp/$ basis)unless you really want the highest quality cat-back available and don't mind paying for it.

If you want the best bang for your buck, just get a muffler shop to mandrel bend you a system from high-quality stainless steel, weld on a magnaflow and your good to go.

But you won't have a Corsa.

I'll always remember something my dad once told me. He said "Son, never be afraid to buy the best, cause you'll never be disappointed."

Value is subjective, but quality isn't.
