K&N slowed me down

went ot the track tonite. I was hoping ot hit a high 13 so this week to prepare I changed the oil and switched out the filter for my airbox mod to a K&N. before I had one of the cheapy ones from Autozone.

well with the cheap one I was running consistent 14.1 at like 101
K&N best 3 consecutive runs of 14.3 @99 is wether that was around 15 degrees cooler?

guess K&N aint all it's cracked up to be.

WEll if the humidity <Spelling sorry" was up that would explain it.

Also what where your 60's this time? Last time? Track prep might have been beter last time.

60' stay around 2.2 high 2.1.

the track was actually preped better. I suppose humidity could have had something to do with it since it rained earlier that day.

AEM Intake installed Great Performance Instantly.

Was the Filter New? Maybe too much oil in the filter.

That will effect your performance drastically.

the filter had around 200 miles on it. this wasn't a whole intake swap just airbox

has nothing to do with the filter... maybe was the track, temp, or the way you were driving, but it's not the filter.. guaranteed

Ditto.

My cousin once claimed that a K&N filter robbed a alcohol powered dragster 400hp. (supposedly 800hp total) Actually, he still does claim this, and gives this reasoning for not purchasing a K&N filter to this day.

i switched my filter out with the K&N and it works really well. im saying i can feel a huge seat of the pants increase or anything, but it definately make that supercharger whine like crazy, which leads me to believe it is getting more airflow. i doubt that a K&N decreased your performance. id blame it on the track.

perhaps a 70/30 mix of 93/94 octance and Uncle Jesses' Moonshine would improve performance.....
