The reason it went boom was because I was running way to lean for about two months. I thought I tuned it right, but evidently not. I was running 22lbs of boost, but I was getting alot of KR.

actually you may have to drive it for a certain amount of miles on the stock tune to make it so they can't see it. i know that is the case on some cars.

this would obviously be impossible for him lol.

what is going on with so many blown motors lately? it was like nobody had blown one at all then, BAM 3 within a few weeks of eachother.

Well when the motor is able to handle 350HP at the crank and you run at the border of that limit it can become stressed. It will not go boom right away. It takes time for the weak parts to crack from the stress, then break.

He maybe lucky that the piston just got a hole in it. Putting forged pistons will have him up and running and with increased HP with increased compression ratio. it will be a good news story soon.

Well, atleast you do know why. Being too lean, having too much kr along with having too much timing at the same time can do it. You could even chip a piston with a safe afr and no kr, due to too much cylinder pressure. I have a feeling as we get into the cold months, we will see more of these, unfortunately.

I'll take a wild guess. It's getting cold in alot of places, which is probably causing everyone to be leaner, or too lean. The majority of the people who through on smaller pulley's don't have a wideband or a scanner, and aren't monitoring what's going on, and adjusting for the changes.

They won't warranty it even if bone stock when you take it in. There was someone on here that tried that and they told him it blew because of overboosting just by looking at the remenants. He tried to play it off as if it was stock, but they knew better. He had to pay for them to disassemble the motor and refused to have them do anymore work, so they put everything in his trunk and he had to pay a flatbed to take it too another shop.

You have to pay to play, be a man and take responsibility for your tuning. Don't make the dealership pay for your tuning mistake.

It kind of ticks me off that people would put it all back to stock and try to warranty it. First off the dealership isn't stupid and secondly it is the reason why they are so willing to not do warranty work to the rest of us who aren't modding our cars beyond it's ability.

I'm sorry to sound like a dick but you should have modded properly in the first place so this wouldn't have happened. GM should not have to pay for your poor planning and neither should the rest of us.

Thank you. I don't understand why people who boost 20+ lbs. and blow their motor expect GM to warrenty it. You have to pay to play, and if you don't want to pay, then you shouldn't play.

Get better parts or you'll just do it again. Even if GM takes your car under warranty, you'll have to pay to install better parts from the aftermarket to make sure your engine doesn't blow. It's expensive, but less expensive than buying a new motor.
