leaking coolant, possible water pump?
leaking coolant, possible water pump?
well I hope someone can give me alittle info, today my car leaked out all of it's coolant twice, and I looked under the car and saw that the coolant was leakin near the passenger wheel but from the engine, someone told me it was the water pump but I'm not sure, does this sound right ? and should I buy a new water pump?? I'm not even sure if thats what its called.... also do you know where I can purchase one from online? thank you for your help guys.
The water pump is located behing the timing cover. There is an access panel on the read of the engine by the tensioner. take off the four 10mm bolt and have a look

ya man, also i would type that 89........ part number into crae engine depot or gmpartsdirect to see your cheapest option
i am biased between Mavens comment and your situation.... this is not just a bolt on ordeal, youo need at least have an idea of what you are attempting before tear down begins...
but you can figure it out if you at least know TDC and you can reference the build book chapters online for the timing chain line up in worst case scenario.
you should have a look at the access cover before buying to see it there is fluid leaking in there...
also if you do it, you may have to pull the exhaust manifold off to gain access to the coolant tube and the back half of the pump assembly.
