A little Info

Perhaps Im retarded in ways on the interweb, but I cant get a decent search result to answer my question, and I know its out there. So forgive teh newb question:

Can anyone tell me the difference, other than cosmetics, between the Redline and the SS/SC? Im only concerned with the performance aspect. IE engine, tranny, suspension... and what the hell is a G85? Im under the impression its the tranny code.

G85 = recaro seats and a limited slip differential

red line and SS/SC are identical performance wise. At least this is what I have been told, I could be wrong.

From what I hear though the Balt is more reliable than the Ion since its a newer platform.

Cobalt is more reliable, and the RL you have to get the package with the lsd and recaro's just to get a boost gauge.

Actually ALL 04-06 Redlines HAVE Recaros. The engine and transmission are IDENTICAL (as is the performance for the most part).
The G85 option is the Torsen limited slip differential option which INCLUDES the Recaros on the Cobalt. On the Redline the G85 is part of the PDA "Competition Package" that also includes different gunmetal finished wheels, special fog lights, and a column mounted boost gage with adjustable "ladder tach" shift lights.
