LNF head, ecu?
LNF head, ecu?
Would it be possible to run an lnf head and ecu on an lsj? Could this work with an s/c'ed setup? Would it show good gains on a turbo lsj? Just wondering if it'd be worth it for getting direct-injection and vvt?
lol, well the bottom end is the same right? Could you buy the intake manifold, exaust manifold, head, ecu and find your own turbo and intercooler? I know it was a dumb question if you could put it on a s/c'ed lsj, but why wouldnt it work if you swapped all those parts off an lnf?

google the lnf and read up on it you will see they are not alike as you would think...
the head would bolt onto the block, and the timing chain would lign up, and im sure the intake and exhaust manifold would bolt up, but im guessing thats were it ends. the complecations of making the direct injection work is not worth it. swapping in the lsj injection wouldnt work as there are no bosses in the head for the injectors, as well as the prots in the head will be designed as a dry port, so fuel wouldnt properly mix in the port. making the vvt work is another huge hassle, best bet would be to run a 2.4l pcm and tune it for s/c.
easier idea would be to supercharge an lnf, wich is pointless. if you want vvt, build up a 2.4l and supercharge it. or best of all, just have your head ported with decent valves, springs and cams, and you will see the best gains.

Well, the idea would be to use the lnf ecu and injectors aswell... but your right, I'd probably be better off porting my head and buying some decent cams. I'm just curious what kind of total cost, and what kind of gains you'd see from basically just keeping the lsj block, sleeves, rods and crank, the same f35 tranny, then just swapping everything else from an lnf minus the turbo and fmic, and putting a bigger turbo and fmic on there. I'm guessing until we see some wrecked 08+ ss's, or solstice gxp/ sky redline in a junkyard to buy parts off of, the parts will all be pricey from gm...
I just think its an interesting concept worth discussing, even if it ends up that it would cost more than it'd be worthwhile to do. I'm just suprised nobody has made a thread about it before.
