Locked up the SS

I am posting this for a friend that I am helping out. I know its my first post. His wife was driving through an enormous puddle and hydrolocked the motor. He has a n 06 supercharged SS. Yes it is locked up, we removed the plugs to get the water out and still stuck. He is not that mechanically inclined, I am a professional. OK so we can't find a cheap bottom end for the thing, and he really doesn't want to do a rebuild. I am more than capable of doing so, but money is tight for him.

I M posting to see what is truly involved in doing a 2.2 short block because we can get completes for $250. He doesn't need a race car, but we can't end up with 10.5:1 compression either. He just needs a daily driver. When we get the car to his house and pull the engine we will see if we can just get a set of used rods for it. Lmk if you have any BTW for the 2.0. Please call me and help us out. I am very busy right now, but I would like to help him out. I am scheduled to leave the country very soon to help out Uncle SAM, and he won't be able to wait until I get back. 610 256 1638

Call his insurance company and see if they will cover it.

After pulling out water, did you drain the oil, put fresh oil? Then after that, did you spray some wd-40 through the sparkplugs are. Then put oil in there to (like motor, or tranny oil) , let it lucubrate ,and then try turning the motor by hand, with a huge pipe. . Only did this on my quad, intake took up water, and this is how I got it free, and is fine know, don't need rings or anything.

biggest issue swapping a 2.2, 2.4 and 2.0l is the crank trigger wheel is different between engines. both the 2.4 and 2.0l are 60-2, or 58x however the clocking of it is different. a 2.2 in those years was a 7x trigger. so to swap engines you need to swap wiring harnesses and pcms, but thats not a simple thing either.

before it comes apart check with insurance to see if its covered. if not, pull it apart and see how bad the damage is.

Man I thought we would be OK. Forgot about the crank sensor. Gear is cast in? We can't remove it from the snout. Is it behind the oil pump? I really don't want to do any extra work. If it were me I would fix it right. But I am a little worried he may have snap a rod and possibly cracked the bottom of the sleeve. We will see. He is dragging ass on getting to car to his garage.

Might just pull the head and see if there is any cylinder wall damage, a crank, rods, pistons, and head work is easier than completely re-wiring a car

Yea, these are nothing like a Honda swap I am finding out. I think we will have to do that. I an definitly

Submit button to close to the keyboard on my phone. Any way I don't want to rewire anything. So its not looking good for a 2.2 swap.
