Loose Shifter
Loose Shifter
My Shifter which is a b&m by the way is very loose like when im lets say in third gear i can move the shifter to the left and right probally a good inch in both directions. I checked the shift cables mainly the one on the left since that controls the left and right movement. And I was just wondering if anything may have come loose or if anyone knows a way of fixing it because now im having a hard time finding third gear. If anyone can give me some ideas I would appreciate it thanks.
Fix your roll pin, you broke it =P.
Edit: Are you going to the meet this weekend, and are you looking for a tuner by any chance?

If its completely broken you will loose the gears.. If the pin is stretched it will get very sloppy and will keep getting sloppy until it breaks.. Mine was in 3 pieces and stretched.. I squeezed it together and got my gears back and drove home to replace it..
No Im not going to the meet but I am in need of a tune for the tvs

it's not the roll pin, you need a bigger set screw for the shifter. I have a hurst sts and it does the same thing in every gear, moves back and fourth, you need to get a longer set screw someone told me in order to correct this problem
It's definitely not the roll pins.
Ok Im 100% its the roll pins but I cannot get the things out of there i have bent all my tools trying to get it out but there is no room in there to do any work any suggestions before i rip the trans out so i can get at them
linkage to that post. I haven't been able to find it. I need to replace mine but don't want to do it with the cheapo brass pos that comes from GM.
Alright.. What I eventually had to do was, I took a 16 sinker nail and ground it down.. Make sure IT BARELY fits in that hole as if your using something thats to small it'll go in the roll pin itself and expand it making it hard as **** to get out.. Thats the tip I can give, make sure the piece your using to push the pin out fits and hits the outside edge of the roll pin and not inside it.. Use something small if you have too and just beat the **** out of it.. Angle the linkage to where you can best get it out..
