Low Coolant

Ive been getting a Low coolant reading for some time now and im noticing its getting very very low. At first it was only when i went over bumps and such and i figured it was just the fluid moving, but now its all the time.

The Big reservior is still half way full but the little one infront of the supercahrger in the very front is very low.

What coolant does the car use? What brand should i buy?

Does this low coolant most likely mean i have a leak somewhere?

Are you noticing leaking somewhere? Like when you park it for the night possibly?

i had a coolant leak like this and the dealer couldnt find it. i got a new engine becaus of it. these engines take a 50/50 coolant. its half coolant and half water. you can buy it walmart.it should say "50/50"on it.

It should say DEXCOOL not 50/50 it's not the same as regular antifreeze. It's formulated for GM vehicles. I had the low coolant and then i added some and went away. It was low

Get the Prestone Dexcool Quik Fill. It is a 50/50 mixture of Dexcool and water. Most (not all of the green) antifreeze will mix with the Dexcool and gel up. Prestone makes a green antifreeze that can be mixed with both Dexcool and green stuff. I say just play it safe and use Dexcool.

I would get the car checked out. If you have been leaking coolant or it has been depleating soon after you fill it up, you may have a blown headgasket and that could crack your pistons in hurry if you keep driving it. Trust me and bdwarr6 as it's happened to both of us by now. Like toydriver00 said, use Dex-cool Quick Fill.

I had this light come on during some races, and Nukem's car starting steaming after he made like 5 runs is a row. So I will probably need GM to look at it, great! GM knows me by name here in this town.

My light came on once, I check it every week now. I had low coolant once and I haven't had it since (as he knocks on wood).

I am at work where is the resevior for the supercharger? This has got me kinda worried. I might need to look into this more deeply than I thought.

The intercooler resivour doesn't have a sensor on it. It sits between the engine, and radiator in the front. The sensor for the coolant is in the main bottle on the bottom of it. Look all around there for coolant and check your cap. I hope it's something easy to fix.

Me too, I have a slight vibration after I had my springs installed. Whenever I am in 5th gear at like 70 mph and I floor it I get a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I have an Ingalls ETD, and Progress springs. Any ideas?

I'm starting to feel like Dr. Phil here! The vibration is probably the Ingalls mount reacting to the torque when you floor it. Are your brackets rubbing anywhere? Also, did you get an alignment with the springs? If you haven't, I would get that done so your tow and camber are within specs. That will also cause vibration.

I've gotten a random "Low Coolant" warning notice driving on flat ground. It lasted for less than a second, but made me worried enough to park the car and look for anything randomly dripping..

It hasn't came up since, and I've actually been running colder now-a-days (I suppose it's the weather)

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but the car does come with a users manual that tells you what kind of coolant to use...it has a lot of useful information...might want to check it out sometime.

I've gotten the low coolant light as well. Everytime I did, my coolant was fine. It's weird. HOwever my coolant resivour does sit on an angle for some reason....that may be why it's causing it.
