not necc haha
you could have piston ring problems, bearing issues, burning due to worn valve guides

and FYI, when burning oil its a BLUE smoke, not white, white is coolant.

if your lean on cyl 1, maybe ring land or rings are bad from that and you are burning oil there.

maybe you over spun engine, tapped valves and now have loose valve guides

i only offer those suggests cuase im in the middle of replacing my engine now from some of that

yea that's the strange thing there's no smoke no weird noises (other then the slight misfire at idle) wouldn't the things you suggested be making weird noises. I guess a compression test wouldnt be a bad idea.

Apparently you never checked the oil after running a small block or big block chevy or other old school V8. The top of the heads can damn near hold a whole quart of oil each lol.

But ya just make sure you're checking it right before getting scared about something else. Good luck to the OP.

You should talk to GM then as they are the ones who set the fan settings at 230F, not I. Some engineer who designs engines for a living thought that 230F was perfectly acceptable for this motor so i will have to agree with him.

compression test would be good idea, but if its the valve guides that wont show on the test.

the bearings will make noise under the right conditions, but until its bad you may not know.

you can also get an oil pressure gauge, that will tell you if you are loosing the pressure somewhere. if oil psi is good, no smoke, good compression...then maybe it was operator error haha

If he blew his engine, I think that would be really noticeable.

just went and ordered a new valve cover gasket (dealership wanted $70 for it so I looked elsewhere) ill try replacing that and see how things go I pulled the plugs today and checked that gaps on them 3 of them were gapped to .035 the other one was gaped to .032 so i regaped it to .035 i havent really noticed a difference on the way it drives but i figured it would be best if all of them where gaped the same
