guess im part of .1%
but hes right. you sacrifice some drivability for a few extra horses.
it just comes down to how you like your throttle response and your idle.....

hp under the curve refers to hp at other rpms than peak hp.

i.e. if you install the ls4 tb, you might go from 230hp peak @ 7000rpm, to 233hp @ 7000rpm, for a gain of 3 peak hp, but it may also give you a 9hp gain at 3500rpm. Technically, you gained more than just 3 hp, because you got alot more power "under the curve".

My stock throttle body was bad so I got a ls4 throttle body. You just have to change the throttle trim with hpt. The colorado 3.5 I5 tb is the ls4 so yes you can use it. In fact I used my brothers tb from his colorado to diagnose mine then I bought one.

correct I have had zero problems since switching. If you have problems then it just boils down to driver error.

considering
is it a direct bolt on (looks like) or an adapter/coupler required?

As Bryan (Area) said, the LS4 is not needed. Look at the guy who have made big power... Not one of them has needed the LS4. I ran one for 1.5 years then sold it to the next poor sap who thought they needed it. Nobody needs enough flow to justify the TB. The 'dyno gains' with the LS4 are likely attributed to variances in dyno runs. My $.02

there is a few issues with it though. it causes idle to surge a little which is ok when you get used to it. and the throttle response is crazy touchy. my first and second gears only have two throttle positions now. barely moved (about 1/8th) or wot, anything in between gets kinda pissy.
This is exactly same for me, I haven't dynod but I definately felt a throttle response difference.
