is the ls4 TB worth it?
I got the ls3 tb also. But I also gasket matched everything to help the flow. The blower, intake manifold and the head on both sides. And also have the rebel 3 inch intake. Ill post numbers after I get everything back together.
hp under the curve refers to hp at other rpms than peak hp.
i.e. if you install the ls4 tb, you might go from 230hp peak @ 7000rpm, to 233hp @ 7000rpm, for a gain of 3 peak hp, but it may also give you a 9hp gain at 3500rpm. Technically, you gained more than just 3 hp, because you got alot more power "under the curve".
Disclaimer: hp gains mentioned in this post are arbitrary and used for explanatory purposes only.

My stock throttle body was bad so I got a ls4 throttle body. You just have to change the throttle trim with hpt. The colorado 3.5 I5 tb is the ls4 so yes you can use it. In fact I used my brothers tb from his colorado to diagnose mine then I bought one.
like I said earlier in this thread, I've got one for sale if anyone wants to buy one.

considering
is it a direct bolt on (looks like) or an adapter/coupler required?
As Bryan (Area) said, the LS4 is not needed. Look at the guy who have made big power... Not one of them has needed the LS4. I ran one for 1.5 years then sold it to the next poor sap who thought they needed it. Nobody needs enough flow to justify the TB. The 'dyno gains' with the LS4 are likely attributed to variances in dyno runs. My $.02
i posted approx ten horses gain when i threw an ls4 tb on my car. i love it.
there is a few issues with it though. it causes idle to surge a little which is ok when you get used to it. and the throttle response is crazy touchy. my first and second gears only have two throttle positions now. barely moved (about 1/8th) or wot, anything in between gets kinda pissy.
