In the past there has been speculation on running a 2.8 with 42's. Some say it's too much, seeing that the GM stage 2 complete setup maxes out or close to, 42's. Some people have no problems with it, but to run a 2.7 with 42's with an a/f of 11.3 seems a bit odd when your technically running the **** out of the 42's with a 2.8
He's asking because you might not know your car is in possible danger.
Edit: there won't be a thread, because you're the first person wacky enough to try it.... It may not be showing signs of blowing, but you are definitely stressing the engine.

there's actually a lot of cars that have blown up from GM 42s, GM stage 2 tune & 2.8 pulley.... might not be alot of threads out there about it because they were afraid of everyone jumping them for being stupid. you really are playing with fire tho, running a 2.7 w/ 42s.... but the 42s you have flow ALOT better than the GM 42s and the ZZP tune is probably not too crazy.... so that's most likely what's keeping your car alive. if you were to go with a more aggressive tune on your current setup, trust me, your car will pop. putting your 60s back in and getting a more aggressive tune will actually be pretty nice.

i believe its the way zzp tunes there ecu's not one vendor is alike in the tunes you get from them with their setups. it may just be luck of the draw with zzp running an awesome tune on their reflash's. however its not like i can just run 60 lb injectors on a stage 2 tune for example...... i cant just run 60's and a 2.7 and a stage 3 tune from zzp and wake up the next day and leave the 2.7 on and the 60's and just change the ecu out

You're not getting the point. one step colder plugs isn't going to help with the lack of fuel you'll experience up top. And if you think you're just 'stressing' your injectors, then you don't have any idea of what's really going on. Your 42's are static in the upper range if you actually are on a 2.7" pulley. Static means your injectors are open all the time. Not having enough fuel to mix with the level of oncoming air will cause a lean condition and a blown engine will soon follow.

not to be a dick or anything..... because RPM is an awesome group of guys.... but they just don't have enough experience with Cobalts for me to trust them with tuning my car. but if you want to let them play with your car, give them a chance to start getting into the Cobalt scene, go for it. they really know their stuff with GM muscle, it'll be awesome to see them really get up to speed with Cobalts/Ions/etc.

from what i'm seeing BYT has tuned some ss/sc cobalts, not sure how many he's done tho. and then there's Tune Time Performance in Toms River, NJ... they've done hundreds of Cobalts, but a bunch of people have a problem with them, me personally.... i dont.

i will get both setups dynoed and let you all know wich set up is better and more fuel efficent and not so rich in oil that it spits all over the back of the car makin black dust everywhere
