Good info.

I know the LSJ can take a beating, and reving it to/past 7,500 rpm wont cause an immediate failure the first time. I just want to make sure that people who are new to the platform don't go rev the **** out of it, and think it's going to be reliable over the long run ya know?

Yeah, 160*F on a cooler 70*F night is fairly high. I would check is cooling system for air man.

Honestly to my understand is that once you spin it that far past are you not generating more heat thus lossing power?

You will generate more heat the higher you rev. That is correct.

Yes, but with the proper cooling mods you can avoid it/keep the heat at bay.

-Properly working intercooling system
-Meth
-E85

The above options all help. Your customers car def needs some attention drawn towards the cooling system.

If you were to build an LSJ correctly you really need to start with an exhaust ported head. The exhaust ports are so tiny, and cause airflow restrictions once you start flowing more air. Now, there have been a handful of people who have made decent power w/o dipping into head work and such, but to "really" do it right with out cutting corners a ported head will help a lot.

Interesting.

I have looked into building a older Ion redline (mostly as a track car, as i have retired track racing my cobalt since i still make payments and it is my DD)

I'd most likely stick with the m62. Interesting on the porting of the head.

I'm not sure why people that want to build up a decent LSJ engine don't just follow the steps found in the LSJ build book. I know it can be costly, and it isn't "impossible" to make good power on the stock internals, but the info is there why not follow it, ya kno?

i would get the intercooling system up to the task of supporting higher hp levels first why make the power when you cant keep it cool second i would tackle the exhaust side of things and so forth
