LSJ Intermediate shaft

I have heard that removing it when pulling the transmission is not recommending because there is something about the way that it goes into the dif that causes a clocking issue.

Is any of that correct? Is there any reason why I should pop it out when dropping the transmission. Pulling it out would make it a hell of a lot easier to get the transmission mated back to the block.

You do not need to, both mine and the car we are doing now have had tranny's pulled leaving the intermediate shaft and the half shafts in.

This time the trans is just being a bitch about going back in. So, I want to be sure we can pull the halfs and intermediate because it should help us out some. Just trying to clarify there is no special reason to not pull the shaft.

Have left them in to not have to do the trans fluid lol.
In the past its been no issue, but this time, well, the shaft just refuses to sink into the crank.
Figure its time to pull off as much weight as we can and try again.

Plus, it was thought that there was some valid reason to not remove the shaft.

Pull them as powell has said its retarded to leave them in and so what if fluid leaks out, clean it up and after you reinstall the tranny top it off with GM part number 21018899 (saturn bottle)
