Maf Translator needed when??

So i did a search, and i'm still unclear on when exactly i would need to buy a maf translator. The car is stock, and im thinking on getting a gmpp s2 kit. Would i need the translator to have it tuned, or are the translators needed for only high mod and hp settings? Thanks for the help.

The MAF translator was only used before engine tuning was available for the Cobalts. It's not needed anymore. After you get GM Stage 2, you can still benefit from a good retune. I have tuned most Stage 2's from 15psi to 17psi, and about 10-15hp more.

Even stage 2 does not touch the MAF calibration

whatever you do.. dont mess with the MAF!

Translators are garbage.

I had the Old intense stg 3 in my car for about a year.(this included a MAF translator) My car ran perfectly, meaning no problems. However it ran soo much better and faster after I got the HP tuners tune.

Yes, the reason it ran is because you have closed loop control and your car was constantly trying to correct itself..

Its tricking the car into thinking its getting more air and hence more fuel.. and that screws up just about everything..

Will it run?.. yeah.. Is it adviseable or even remotely the correct way to do it..? NO
