Not worth it on the M62. But you might want to get yours ported by OTTP.

Can you explain your intake reversion? How did you know it was intake reversion? how is this caused by the TB?

Basically with a Ported Head along with the TVS then you would recommend the ls4 as a must??

I have a question about my LS4.......I seem to have lost 5 MPG. I thought the LS4 leaned the motor out a bit because of more air going in. All thats been changed in my tune is the scaler since installing it.

Please let me know soon what I have to do to fix my MPG if that's possible

I dyno tested one for them on my OTT Stage 1 kit. Lost 1hp and 5tq along the entire power band. They cut open the IM and ported the ports to the Laminova cores to about 17mm. I did see a small decrease in my IAT2 temps however.

Josh said that other people have reported gains of 15whp with different power adders. IE. TVS and turbos.

This is so true is should not ever be debated ever again. At least to how it applies to the M62. GM did an excellent job building a IM for the M62 on the LSJ.

Some people may experience this problem with larger power adders then the M62. Tubros and TVS blowers push out more air then the ports to the Laminova cores can handle. So the air gets backed up before the cores. That makes the TVS work hard to push the same amount of air into the IM and to keep the charged air from return back through the rotors.

Contact Josh for more info.

As far as the MPG drop thats to be expected when essentially your using more throttle than before at all times, you can try to dial in the MAF and lean things out a bit, add some spark advance where you can

As far as a ported head goes thats a bit more involved than I know how to do and quite honestly I dont know any shops around here that I'd trust to do it and it hardly seems worth putting a head on and ignoring the pistons which are the real weak point in the motor. At that point your looking at alot of downtime and a motor build. I'd rather leave the Cobalt alone and put that money into something a bit more classic

Actually just about everything on our cars are relatively easy to do if you're mechanically inclined. I recently did a Piston Swap and it wasn't as bad as I thought.. Had a few snags, but overall its been pretty smooth.. If you were just doing a ported head.. You could do it over the weekend easily as long as you had all the bolts and parts you needed there. If you busted ass you could finish it in a day, but thats if you know exactly whats going on..

The pistons aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be as long as the car is taken care of with little detonation and a great tune. This is coming from a guy that just blew his #4, but still. that one was totally my fault :P

I love mine, but I got methanol and the rebel intake on at the same time. The car is a lot nicer to drive now. It just takes times to learn to drive it again. I wouldn't go back, but I couldn't verify how much difference just the TB made because all the changes were at the same time.

The guy in my signature did a great job tuning for mine. Other than some minor issues, which can be corrected with driving adjustments (likely mechanical and not tune related) the car runs better all around than it has at any point since I drove it off the lot.

I ended up installing my 60s. Using a OTTP tune that we tweaked a bit for the LS4....my car runs awesome.....I don't have a WB (yet!) but my shitty narrowband isnt peaked at rich anymore...it's actually stoich to just a hair into the lean. Going to sell my 42s and get a WB...but be easy on it until then just in case

Here's the other things we did to it:
turned tq management off
redline to 7200 rpm
speed limiter to 250
ac cut off at 75% throttle
50% boost in 1st
LS4 scailer to 3950 (wayyyyyyyy less touchy now!!)
Added 2 deg. of timing at WOT....no KR!!!

I would try a lower number than 4950 for sure......the driveablity, at least for me, is much much better...even livable....@3950

it's interesting to see that setting the ls4 scalar to less then 4500 would make it less touchy... hmm?

with it set at 4950...at least for me.....it was either grandma driving or about 70% throttle. hard to manage something in between. with it at 3950 i can at least manage a good amount of in between.

the lower the scaler the slower the tb closes. opening rate does not change.
