Mass airflow issues

So my old car has been sold twice and both times they always come back to me to get worked on. Well my friend sold it to this kid and it has nothin but problems. Scanned it and it comes up mass airflow. So i cleaned it and it ran better for a day they same ****. Bogs bad idles up and down. So we order a new one and problem solved. Well he calls me today saying it's doin it again. I noticed that the sensor was a reman sensor but i don't think thats the issue. I'm thinkin it's the POS k&N airfilter lettin crap in. Opinions?

How much oil is on that filter? Could it be tune related? Clean everything.

It's just the stage 2 tune. I honestly don't know the last time it was cleaned but it was nasty. So i cleaned it for him today. I think i'm gunna tell him to get a dry flow something other then a K&N

Switch to a dryflow filter, you will notice many people get these issues with K&N or Injen intakes (which both use oiled filters). This was very common back in the day and pissed many people off.

The AEM dryflow or any other dryflow filters will not throw those codes for you. Personally I have an Injen intake and have an AEM dryflow on it and never had a CEL for over a year.

It could be other things, but like I said oiled filters were notorious for this. I guess a little bit gets on the MAF sensor and it goes crazy, I dunno.

My car was fucked for a long time, kept going into limp mode, throwing all sorts of codes for MAF, BARO. Turned out it was a single bad wire running to the MAF. Took a dealer tech all day to figure it out.
