Anyone else just getting around 6psi in first gear?

I was watching some Cobalt videos, and it appeared that they were hitting full boost in first.

Just curious.

 

For me it seems like I get about 6-7 in 1st.

 

If I go WOT in 1st I get 10psi and alot of tire noise.

 

Hmm.. not sure if something is wrong. I'll have to look more carefully this weekend.

is everyone else on here getting 10psi in first gear?

 

I get 12 everytime. My guess is that your gauge is slow maybe..... What about if you redline it real quick in nuetral?

 

If I go past 5000 rpm, I get just over 10psi. I'm not sure exactly how much since 1st goes by so fast and I usually look at the road more than my gauges.

 

only looked once but i don't think i was very high in boost in first. you go through that gear so fast, and trying to pedal through the wheel spin i don't really pay attention to how much boost is getting down.

 

i get 10 Psi in first but right before i redline i get around 11 or 12 but in every other i get a lil more then 12 at about 4500 +

 

Maybe I should get my pcm reflashed. I must be bleeding off boost in first for some reason.

 

i noticed something today as well. i was driving in traffic for about 10 mins. pulled onto an offramp and there was a celica gt driving and i figured i'd run past him real fast. my temps were over 200, and when i was in third @60mph, the car just wouldn't pull like it normally did. it felt like i was in 4th gear. when i drove down the road for a while and temps got back down to about 185 it ran fine.... that's some serious control that pcm has over the engine i'm guessing

 

why didnt you just downshift into 2nd?

 

rpm's wasn't the point. the car was bleeding off boost like the supercharger wasn't even running.

 

Sounds like something is definitely wrong man. From what I've heard, the SC should be able to hit almost full boost in 1st gear. I could see it being normal if you were only getting 10 or something, but 6 PSI is just way too low under any circumstances.

If its hitting full boost in the other gears, then I'm assuming that your gas is fine, so bad gas can be ruled out. Could be something with the PCM I suppose. Has it only hit 6PSI in 1st since you've had the car, or only recently??

Na, it's always done it. I think it's either the PCM or the gauge wont read correct for some reason. When I drive it there is plenty of power still.

 

Ok I see. Definitely sounds like something related to the electronics then.

I figured it was either something with the PCM or it just happened recently, because when you took me for a ride in the SS, it sure felt like full boost

 

yup, it doesnt feel underpowered at all. I'll check into it when I'm back from school in the winter.

 

i get between 8 and 10 in first gear but i wish is was less cause maybe then i wouldn't have such traction problems. I'm leaving for english town in like 2 hours hopefully i can get into the 14's

 

i only see around 6 or 7 in first too, i did check that hose and it was stuck between something, and had a hard 180 degree turn in it so i gave it a bigger loop, but won't be able to test it untill tomorrow because of the rain.

 

I'll check my hoses again to make sure. I do hit full in 2nd and sofourth so I'm not sure still. I emailed GM about this issue and I'm waiting for a response from them.

 

i can now hit 10 in first with hella lot of wheel hop lol but i think the hose wasn't flowing right.
