Max Boost for SS/SC?

Does anyone have any idea of what the safest maximum boost level is for the SS/SC? I currently see 18.5-19 and want to drop down to a 2.6" pulley, which should bring the boost to somewhere around 20-21 I would think.

Are you still running the 2.8? That should peak around 17 or so...if you're higher than that, you may have a restriction somewhere in the exhaust...but a lot of people are peaking over 20 with no problems yet, other than the usual fried clutches and snapped axles.

I hear the stock head gasket can live to about 24 psi... after that your on your own... can't wait to stud my head and do the cometic... just have to wait a bit longer than planned to finish off my drivetrain first

Thanks for the info. One more question, how much less efficient will the SC be at boost levels of 21lbs.? Would heat be a factor that would have to be addressed?

With that amount of PSI, I think heat is ultimately going to be your enemy, even with an aftercooler.

Well I was thinking about going with the Snow Performance kit later on. Would it be dangerous to run that type of boost with out it?

if you reduce timing and keep a rich afr you should be ok... but I"d get the meth kit (I did) and I run 24 deg of timing and 21.5 psi no KR and car ran like a beast til my axles and possibly tranny went

Do you know what the cause of the axels and tranny going? Also, the CA Stage kit tune, would that be effiecient enough for my car (without the Water/Meth Kit) or do I need a custom tune with that much boost?

they have a tune for no meth... I had it for a bit...
I got too much traction... thats what broke me... ATCO was so well prepped it was ripping my shoes off when I walked the track later that night. stock axles and clutch will not live to these power levels.. my advise to all just starting to mod... clutch and axles first.. most expensiive and labor intensive thing to do.. so do it once right in the beginning and don't have to worry... I unfortunatly went the other route and now I"m paying for it... no car... blows donkey dick

Also, think of the heat of your supercharger and max RPM of them. The more PSI you're pushing, the closer you are pushing to the limit of it and causing damage to it mechanically.

Hmmmmm...so is it a good idea than to push the SC that much. Cause I plan on getting the Water/Meth kit later on (maybe a couple months). How long would the clutch and axels last and would they def. have to be replaced (more so the axels)?

I avg. about 25 mpg, so I don't beat on the car, would that be another factor than?

you will not need to replace either unless you plan on getting on it...

but if you plan on drag racing or getting on it you will need to replace both

if you have performance upgrades its not if but when you will need to replace the axles and clutch the when will be determined by how you drive it
