mixed in some toulene

I was at 1/2 a tank and went 2 shewin williams and bought 2 gallons of toulene<spelling?>. went to the closest shell station and tossed in the 2 gallons and filled the tank. I felt no differance for the first 5 miles but soon after BAM! Instant throttle response! The car pulled signaficantly harder too!

careful with toulene, it will screw your plugs quick!

Better off using Torco accelerator, safer!

toluene is a solvent that dissolves paints, inks, rubber...a lot of stuff.
it is used as an octane booster as you found out.
I prefer to use 100+ octane gas to get my kicks

Toulene
R+M/2...114
Cost...$2.50/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.2 Octane
20%...96.4 Octane
30%...98.6 Octane
Notes: Common ingredient in Octane Boosters in a can. 12-16 ounces will only raise octane 2-3 *points*, I.e. from 92 to 92.3. Often costs $3-5 for 12-16 ounces, when it can be purchased for less than $3/gal at chemical supply houses or paint stores

Torco uses this:
Methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether (MTBE)
R+M/2...118
Cost...$3.50/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.6 Octane
20%...97.2 Octane
30%...99.8 Octane
Notes: Oxygenate. Very common in octane booster products. Has lower BTU content than toulene or xylene, but oxygenate effect makes the gasoline burn better and produce more energy.

Enjoy! Dont use too much....

A bunch of us Michigan guys went to Milan dragway last night, and Zenkat (SRT4 guy on this forum) ran toulene and a race gas mix. He seemed to be really happy with it, I guess it did wonders for KR. Hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in.

Agreed, I'll wait for him to chime in here, but I think he may have found another option here too that my be a little cheaper.

But yeah either way this is a track day only kind of thing.
