To much fuel = bad???

hey quick question...?
If i get 60lb injectors and im running them with the 3.0" until i have money to buy the tune and 2.7 or 2.6 will that hinder performance?

I was gonna get the 42 w/ 2.8" and tune, then get the 2.6 with 60lb and another tune, but that doesnt seem real cost effective. so thats why im asking if i go ahead and buy the 60lb w/ my current 3.0 until i buy the tune and 2.6 will it mess up my engine performance.

thx in advance.

I dont think you can run the 60#'s without a tune

you need to have the the computer tuned for the 60lbers. If not your car will run like ****. It'll probably cut fuel and throw fuel in to try and correct itself so it would run right

it would be more benifical to help the engine breath before you begin to get into higher boost. And it would be smarter to get the 60# at the same time as the 2.6 so it could all be done at once.

Get a full exhaust and a high flow stock filter or CAI then continue with the smaller pulley/ injectors.

Why not leave it the way it is, gather up the parts you want, then tune it? Why even put the 60's in till you have the pulley and tune ready to go?

The most cost effective way would be to gather up every part you want (exhaust, fuel, pulley etc) then tune it.

And yes the injectors will be "freaking out" without proper tuning.

FLCobalt, I'll go into more detail of what people are trying to tell you.

The reason people aren't suggesting you do this is because bigger injectors + your computer not knowing about them = bad news. What will happen first is that with your initial start up, it will have trouble starting cause it's spraying too much fuel into the motor causing a bad combustion but if it does start, your duty cycle at idle is just way too high for that size of injectors.

To answer your beginning question "Is too much fuel bad?", yes. Remember, you have an a/f ratio. You're a/f ratio is a numbering system that tells basically how your motor is running...if it's running lean (not enough fuel), stoich (just enough fuel) and rich (too much fuel). There are of course degrees of being lean, rich and stoich but basically, too lean and too rich are bad. Being too lean has more damaging results of course but being too rich is also bad. Too much fuel will cause a bad mixture and a bad combustion and will basically just flood your motor...flood it with fuel.

Flooding your motor can result in 1. Just not even being able to start your car 2. Having filthy O2 sensors (bad O2 sensor = codes being thrown = problems)

Ultimately, 60 lb injectors are huge bro. 40 lb are big but those are just even bigger and not necessary for the power you're aiming for. The key is to not strain your injectors. If you have a stage kit, stick with what GM gives you...they give you new injectors and a reflash for a reason.

If you want to learn more on how your motor is running, buy a wideband unit.

If you're just throwing smaller pulleys on without a reflash being done or fuel adjustment, you're asking for trouble.

If you have anymore questions, just ask.
