Need Help with a friends LSJ!!!
Our cars only do this when it has a bad ground normally caused by cutting into a wire harness, but some times it could have nothing to do with it. Start with grounding the supercharger to the front frame of the car using a tire iron or some other kind of large metal object (dont worry you wont get shocked). When you do this with the key in the run position you will hear the throttle body open and close, once it does try to start the car. It will spark at the points of contact again it will not shock you, the car should start. If it does not than move on to the other various grounding points and repeat the same process using jumper cables as your test ground contact to the frame. The main ground is located on the transmission and runs to the frame under the driver side headlight bracket. There is also a small one on the lower engine block between the motor and transmission, it is small and easy to oversee and the wires run into a wiring sleeve. The wires them selves are not typically the problem, its the connectors that cause the bad ground. Water, oil leeks and other weather and chemical elements cause corrosion. So if they look bad change them out. once you have found the bad ground you can use a negative battery cable to replace it as a temporary fix, secure one end on the block using a bolt or nut(like on the motor mount) and the other end to the frame by tapping in or using a bolt already in place(like on the strut housing). That should do the trick to get you running, then you can get the right ground cable or have a shop do the job to standard.
