Need help quick.. Corsa vs. GMPP

Long story short, had to replace the exhaust on the SS. I asked them to order me a GMPP touring exhaust, instead I got CORSA touring exhaust. ANyone know what the difference is besides ruptured ear drums? I'm trying to figure out what I expect them to do for me. Any help is appreciated!

it's just a personal preference... you'd be happy with either...

I'm showing my age here but it hurts my ears when I drive with the window down. I've heard the GMPP sport exhaust and I think it's quieter than this one.

Does anyone know what the cost difference is?

you can always get another resonator put in, if there's room... or get a new muffler... as far as loudness, more flow = more loudness... so all of the aftermarket exhausts are going to be much louder than stock, like i said, unless you get a resonator or new muffler...

don't forget, an exhaust needs some time to "break in" properly.. it will mellow out after a few hundred miles... won't get a whole lot quieter, but sound quality will improve...

as far as price, the gmpp is about 300 less, depending on where you go...

If it hurts your ears with the windows down... why don't you stick to the stock exhaust?

Everyone who reads this is probably laughing their asses off at me...whatever

The exhaust got bent in the accident and I decided that since they were paying, I'd have them throw on the GMPP exhaust, I've heard it and loved it, it was going to cost me the difference but it wasn't much. Ok fine, no problem.

When i picked the car up it sounded great at idle and when i drove away and kept it under 2500 it sounded great. Now is when I opened up my window and heard the sound and thought how obnoxious it was. To put this in perspective, I drove a 01 GTI VR6 which is one of possibly the best sounding engines (next to ferrari) and that sounded a bbit too loud with 2.5 inch piping and a Borla muffler, but otherwise perfect. The Corsa exhaust absolutely kills the GTI in sound levels and it's just too much for me. It almost sounds ricerish.

Anyway, point being I needed to find out if there really is a difference between Corsa and the GMPP exhaust. The Chevy dealer is arguing with me that there isn't such a thing as GMPP until i pointed him to the catalogue and gave him the exact part number. Now we'll have to see what they're going to do about all this. In my opinion, they need to take off the Corsa and put on the GMPP but we'll see what happens.

Oh, I didn't want the stock exhaust because I was looking for some good performance which the GMPP offers with a bit more aggressive sound again what the GMPP offers. I figured it would compliment the stage 2 well.

BTW...please don't think I'm some punk teenager or some unknowledgable fool, I've been modifying cars now for over a decade and just know what I like and what I don't. The problem arises when I don't get what I order and then have to argue to get what I want. That just pisses me off.

The corsa is a larger and more expensive exhaust....

I'm surprised the touring is too loud for you. The sport exhaust i could understand. If it was their mistake and you truely are not happy, then by all means make them eat the price. Personally, i would much rather have the more expensive Corsa.
that's just my input

I have the GMPP sport with an open system upstream of it and a header. I am an old fart and love the sound. It is a matter of personal preference.

nobody is diong/thinking any of these i don't think... everyone gave good answers...

like i said though, at this piont your best bet is to get a bigger resonator/muffler to quiet things down...

i like my corsa touring, it has a nice mellow sound and is nearly silent on the highway but it wakes up once you step on the gas

Not trying to knock you... but I'll be honest. My GMPP Sport system is quieter than half the damn ricers around here. When I open her up... sure, she sounds a bit chainsawish... but if I wanna shut up the ass in the primered civic next door... I better have some noise. If you're not happy with the Corsa system... send it back... but Corsa is the best exhaust in the world.

True, Ive heard both gmpp and the corsa. The corsa sounds awsome but is a bit louder. I think its all in the resinator. I had factory pipe w/ a dynomax muffler for a while and its was LOUD until it warmed up. After I installed my magnaflow catback, the sound is the same when the engine is cold or warmed up.

Sent PM to you Go-Balt.

FOr the rest, thanks for the advice. I just drove it around a little more and you are all correct, when just cruising and not in boost, it sounds good and is perfect, exactly how I want it, it's just when I'm merging and all that other good stuff that makes me not interested.

Things are in the works, we shall see what unfolds.
