need some help

i dont think this is the right place to post this but im trying to put my hurst shifter in that i ordered and im having trouble getting the shift knob off. I put the screw drivers under it and pryed but instead of the ball coming off the plastic for the the reverse lockout broke off. I can see the foam piece but i cant get the shift knob off. can anyone gimme some advice. thanks

i put it on the ground and held it with my feet and then pulled upward. worked really well.

when i changed my shifter knob i had trouble at first but mine was simple. i just pulled the boot down off the knob and pulled up and it came off.

yethe first thing i did before i started was pulled that up. he says try it from different angles but it doesnt seem to be working. all the plastic underneath it is broken off. i can see the foam and the spring but the shift knob wont budge.

****. i just got it off and learned a lesson at the same time. dont lean right over top of the shift knob. i grabbed ahold of it and pulled and BAM flew off right into my lower jaw. now the inside of my lip is busted open and my bottom teeth hurt but by god i got that off. onward with the project and thanks for the help :P
