Get the stage 3 kit. Get the 2.8. Get the 60s, OR 80's if you plan on doing future mods. Order a real GM Stage 2 belt from Crate Engine. If you got the extra money, get the dual pass endplate with it. If you got a little more extra money, try to find someone near you to custom tune you.

If you're going 2.8 I hope you have a header & dp. I'm learning about these cars fast and I would do your prereq mods first. (actually i am doing the samething)

Meh.. You can go 2.8 with no exhaust work. Do what I said, w/ a 2.8.. Then Downpipe, then header, then 2.7.

And you wouldn't really "need" the dual pass until you went to the 2.7.. Although extra cooling never hurts!

I bought the OTTP stage 2 kit thinking I would only be a couple hundred dollars. Wrong, to do it right, you need all the supporting mods and it's addicting. Had the car since february and i'm about $6k into it, read what they reccomend you get with each kit and do it. Last thing you want is to blow it up because once you do thats it and you will be kicking yourself in the ass.

you will see stupid boost lvls on a 2.8 IMO get exhaust work first. IDC what anyone says you can run a 2.8 without yes, is it safe not really. Its alot more stress on the motor that way IMO. I'm seeing 17psi or just higher with a 2.9 and I have a 2.5 catted DP and Bad Mab. It's always better to go conservative at first then build around what you want. I have a 2.7 I could slap on now, but my car is not ready for it.

Plus a dual pass is the way to go if you plan on going further with the car, which we all know you will lol.

alright thanks for the help. i planned on getting the 3in zzp downpipe that goes into a 2.5 for my magnaflow cat-back. then i wanted the stage 2 kit. didnt plan on a header though... but yah so i need the 60 injectors and then does it matter if i did the oversized tensioner pulley vs a smaller belt?

im just trying to do this right the first time i dont wanna rig something up i want it running healthy

I did the oversized tensioner pulley... just have to grind the inside of it a little to keep it from rubbing... no slip on a 2.8

Shorter belt = win. Just have to watch the belt from time to time, as i have heard zzp had belts chunking apart. Mine has 5k on it, and looks like new though.

Get exhaust before the stage kit trust me I learned the hard way what a stage 3 kit does to a stock dp... And get the smaller belt. And go with zzp no disappointments there.

ahahaha another stock DP wheel hop kill. I actually broke mine stock, and went with a ZZP 2.5 catted one, and since have had no issues what so ever. Even have 8 passes on it at the track!

Its funny how nobody has recommended for him to go with cooling mods because these engines need all the cooling mods they can get. Go with stage 3 and add in the dual pass and heat exchanger with a 2.8 and either 60s or 80s. Take my advice and you'll thank me later.

You DO NOT need exhaust mods to run a 2.8" pulley. I remember reading 100%METH is rolling around on a 2.6" pulley with the stock manifold and dowpipe right now. I wouldn't recommend that but you can do it. Like I said to you before Boosted05 you shouldn't be making 17+ pounds of boost on a 2.9" pulley and exhaust mods. That's not right.

And people take a dual pass and heat exchanger as a "cooling mod" so they think it's a must. All a dual pass and heat exchanger will do is recoupe your temps after a pull much faster. They do not actually drop your temps during a pull. So if you like to do back to back runs it's nice to have. But it is definitely not necessary.

The only real Cooling mod would be the Phenolic spacer IMO. If I have to, I'll go shoot a video of my car on a Badmab, 2.5 catted ZZP DP and stock cat back with the 2.9 to prove it hits 17psi. It's not a must, but it's just a better idea, more boost does not mean more power. ZZP put my car together, and Tim came out and told me with no exhaust work I would actually make more power on the 2.9 than the 2.8, plus it would run cooler.

I'm going with what the professionals told me about these cars, just my .02 here.

When I did my dual pass I went out for a run before installing it and by the middle of 3rd WOT my iat2's were 140 on a 2.8 went to the garage installed it and went back out in the middle of third iat2 only got to 132... It definately keeps you cooler for a longer period of time during a pull... but yeah its more about it getting temps back to normal quick after a pull

you would be making more power on a 2.9 with no exhaust then a 2.8 because you cant run as aggresive of a tune with a 2.8 and no exhaust work
