need for tuning for nitrous?

I was reading a few posts that refered to tuning for a 50 wet shot of nitrous. I posted that you dont need to tune for nitrous. and also asked that if i was missing something please educate me. no-one did. someone please tell me how you tune for a shot of nitrous.

You tune for nitrous by adjusting timing. Although the nitrous drops the intake air charge temperature drastically it also raises the internal cylinder pressure; this could lead to preignition. Therefore, you would need to monitor the engine and tune for any knock that is observed. You would also want to observe AFR to see how you will need to adjust the wet shot to provide the extra fuel. Also, with a direct port system you could fine tune the fuel maps to get the most power and get rid of any lean spots that you observe while on the dyno.

Do you have to tune for a 50 wet shot, well it depends. If you are running a small ass pulley etc., then yes you must adjust the tune to accomodate the completely different conditions that nitrous presents. If you were on a stock Stage II setup and sprayed a 50 wet shot, you could probably get away with not tuning as long as you at least set up your nitrous controller correctly and make sure you add enough fuel.

Yeah probably .

Actually you could probably run a 50 wet shot on the stage II setup. As long as you made sure the AFR was correct and retarded the timing a bit you'd be okay if you only sprayed....once a month .

For a 50 shot you don't need to tune for stock or stage 2.

If you have some vendor calibration and pulley combo you definetly need to make sure your timing is ok.

These are all my opinion and I run a 50-75 shot on my car.

I wasn't laughing at you at all. I was just kidding; did you see where I said the Stage II would be fine? I personally would like to tune for it, but it isn't necessary.
