Yea, personally I don't think GM will put the turbo motor into the cobalt. Fwd just doesn't handle power like that. And the ecotec in the solstice is almost a totally different engine. totally different pistons, (direct injection needs a relief for the injector) head (same reason as pistons.), fuel system, computer system, Block provisions( for VVt) you get the idea. It would be cool though.

If you think about it the SAAB runs an almost 100% identical motor to the Cobalt and runs direct ignition, Turbo, FMIC all stock. And if you look at the new 9-3 Aero its a V6 FWD twin screw turbocharger... see where i'm going here???

So hang in there becuase I dont think the turbo will be far away for the Cobalts.
Correct me if im wrong but didnt the ecotec that is in our cars first come from SAAB which is why when u look on the bottom end where the oil pan is it says SAAB.

I think Tofu weighed in at the track around 2900 or 3000 with him in it.

I think the turbo would actually bennefit the Cobalt. A little lag off the line would prevent spin and hop while the top end would make up for it.

According to some of the reviews I read on the Solstice GXP there is a little from a stop. I would like to find out for myself though.

solstice gxp-2.0 ecotec vvt
cobalt ss-2.0 ecotec non vvt

can we swap the heads off a gxp and get vvt
VVT is controlled by the ECU so you'd have to swap out a lot more than just the head.

When you go buy parts for your cobalt remember that the part was designed and made by saab. GM is in tight constraints and needs to close the gap in the models to cut costs. The supercharge is great but GM and SAAB both know turocharging very well.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Have you driven a Turbo FWD car?? I get some wheel hop if i really get on it but there is no difference from a SC.

Go drive a new 9-3SS AERO or 9-5 AERO and see for yourself the power is very manageable in a FWD so long as you are not trying to push 600WHP.

Those mazdas arent even putting down 265hp as they claim. Ive seen some dynos online and the highest dyno i saw where the guy was modded was 236. I saw one 216 stock and another one was 230hp. I was interested cuz my buddy is getting one due to the fact his dad owns a ford dealership over here and mad ppl are talking ****. Only run a 5.9 0-60 as well so mazda def isnt the best but anyone think we can take these cars i want to shut some people up?

i drove the turbo sky at barret jackson. i wasnt allowed to launch the car but from a roll there seemed to be alot of turbo lag. But ounce the turbo spooled the car pulled hard and even spun a little in second. it wasnt as fast as my cobalt but my car does have 270whp

.... i said 1 comment and look at the bitch fights going on.

a car is a car.... you bought a cobalt, you will be biased towards it (as am i). i wouldnt mind owning an MS3 cept im not HUGE fan of hatchbacks.... and if you think u are outperforming an MS3 in you stock cobalt and you disagree with all of the editors that "like" the ms3, then take it up with them, not me. i have not driven one and certainly am not a representative of the ms3.

on a better note, mazda produces some great cars and im always a fan/supporter (as with many companies).

regardless.... hatrickstu did not mean for this to happen in the thread and discuss what is mentioned in the FIRST posts. moving on...
