New to me 2006

I just bought a 2006 ss/sc and it has a bunch of mods that the used car guy could not help me with. I am goingto try to post pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me what has been done. The exhaust is very loud it doesnt look like it has a muffler. The down pipe off the supercharger doesnt look stock. I dont know by looking at the pully if it has been changed.

If it's a press on pulley it's stock, if the injectors are green they are stock. If there are blue bolts on the SC Pulley (4 of them) then it's most likely GM Stage 2.

Post pics .

The muffler itself should have a name on it if it's aftermarket

It doesn't appear to have a muffler? Pretty much just looks like a pipe all the way to the end of that picture. Very LOUD. Can I just add a muffler? What would be a quite choice? Would I need to retune after adding a muffler? Do I need to add more than just a muffler, I have read a little in this great forum and it also talks about a resignator??? Thanks

If it is just straight pipe, buy a muffler of your choice. Everyone has an opinion on what sounds best. I like Corsa on these cars myself. Get a big resonator over 20". I like stainless works for these.

OK a newbe question. I went to my muffler guy today and he recomended a magnaflow for a quiter sound and not to much loss in performance. But what is the purpose of a resignator suggested a couple of post earlier? Where on the straight pipe does this go? It sounded like my guy for 200 bucks, was just going to cut and install the muffler on the exiting straight pipe. Is this proper? Thanks

A resonator will get rid of the rasp in your exhaust (big issue with LSJ's).

The muffler will just be cut into the pipe like you said. The resonator goes farther upstream.
