New owner, some quick questions...

Hi there,

Just bought my Cobalt SS/SC yesterday. I spent all night searching through threads to some of the questions I had. I found all the answers I was looking for except for a few (I might just suck at searching ).

-I bought the car with 30 miles on it (basically brand new). It had been sitting in the showroom for about 6 months without moving. I noticed my MPG is at about 23. As I break in the engine, will this number go up at all? I do a lot of highway miles.

-I live in Massachusetts, and the winters get really cold here, especially in the morning. Has anyone ever had problems starting the car in sub-zero temperatures? What precautions should I take?

That's all for now. If these have been answered before, my apologies.

Thank you very much!

im new to the cobalt world too...just got mine this month as well, but as for precautions in the winter just make sure you give her enough time to warm up before you start driving just like any other car...i plan on changing my pre-work routine so i can warm her up for a minimum of 15 minutes before i start driving..i am also interested in some other tips from the vets out there...anything??

its just like any other car in the winter. i live in michigan so i now what your talkin about. i wouldnt leave it sittin there warming up for 15 minutes, my advice though when it snows out, is to wipe the snow off of the hood after you start the car, and just let it sit for about 5 minutes. get used to driving by looking at the coolant temp instead of the outside temperature. i try not to move the car until the temp is above 100.

just get the coolant temp up to about 100 like said before

if u plan on driving it in the winter look into some new tires or u will regret it

the miles per gallon is average miles per gallon on all the miles until u reset it....

if u reset it going down the interstate u will see over 30 easily

i see like 52 going down broadway at like 40-45 in 5th lol
