newb question

I ordered a used GM stage 2 pulley system from Intense and it came without breather nut/cap or a bit to remove the screws. Any suggestions as to where I might be able to find them or any alternative methods for both? Argh.

i dont know of any place you can buy the tool to remove the screws, i had the same problem, and nobody would loan me theres. so i took the supercharger off (very easy) and took a 3/8ths drill bit and drilled into the heads poped the pulley off and removed the rest of the screws with a pair of vice grips, and replaced the bolts with a couple of custom allen head screws made at a local hardware store. but if you could get your hands on the bit it would be easier, good luck.

I tried a flathead that fit perfectly into the screws earlier and it wouldn't budge them. I think it has Loctite on them.

I'll probably try needlenose Vise Grips and if that doesn't work.....I may end up taking a cutting wheel to the heads of the screws and go from there. lol

Drilling them is my last option.

Just drill them out or something, you aren't gonna get them out if they are loctited in and you don't even have the pulley on a blower. They are tight.

Replace them with some allen socket cap screws, M8x1.25 thread I think, about 20mm length should be fine. Screws can be bought from any Home Depot type place or hardware store.

I may just do that...thanks LSJ and Joe!

Any idea on the breather nut/cap? I know my 3800 s/c needed one.

at the very end of the s/c shaft there is a smooth cap that "fills in" the hole on the inside of the pulley

they weren't lying when they said these GM pulleys were heavy! wow...it's heavier than my old ZZP MPS that was 3.4" opposed to 3.0"

Ahh, thats what I though. Don't worry about it. Its just a threaded hole in the shaft, doesn't matter if you leave it open, or re-use the factory cap or whatever.

I thought they leaked if they didn't have something to plug them? Maybe the M62's are different from the M90's I'm used to.

well since we were let out early from work, I decided to go to town on the screws with a drill.....I managed to break like 5 bits (cheap).....tried an impact driver, a pair of Vise Grips, slotting the heads with a cutting wheel, and an air hammer with a chisel bit.....got one out with drilling it (took forever) and removing it with the Vise Grips, one removed with the impact driver, and the other two came out with the air hammer

found the screws I needed at Lowes with an Allen head for a few bucks

thanks guys!
