NGK Iridium BKR7EIX & 2.9" pulley. What gap would be better? .40 or .35?

I'm kinda new to the whole changing spark plugs thing but my car has been idling weird lately & I bought some NGK Iridium IX (BKR7EIX) ONE STEP COLDER plugs. I'm not sure what these are pre-gapped at or what they should be at.

Now I've heard some people say "Don't gap these plugs! They will break!"
I've also heard people say "They can be gapped."

I have a 2.9" pulley & was wondering, if I can gap them, what would be best? .40 or .35? The factory plugs are gapped at .45, right?

Someone let me know what would work best with my setup without over doing it. Any help is much appreciated!

I agree with .35 to .37. That seems to work the best with mine as well. Every car is different. It may take a few tries to find what it likes the best.

Don't gap iridium plugs, if you insist on gapping them get copper ones instead.

I know you probably don't want to explain it to me but why shouldn't I gap them? I'm new to this so any info will help me out.

he is saying that because on Iridium plugs usually the tip breaks off if you try and gap them, yeah i agree go with copper if you want to gap them.

Just go with coppers anyway. Iridiums are too expensive and fragile.

I already have iridiums, I'm sticking with them for now.

Will .35 run good for a 2.9" pulley? I see you have a 2.6" so it might be different...

I've got the 2 step colder plugs and the factory gapping is .35 as I remember. I'd say leave it there and don't break the 7 dollar plug.

They can be gapped but again I wouldn't bother when you could just buy the same ngk 1 step colder (or autolite 3922?) plugs and not have a problem changing the gap if necessary.

I run a 2.8, same gap, but the 8eix

The iridiums I have are the 1 step colder plugs. So you're saying just leave them the way they are and it should be fine?
