Noise??

I have a 05 Cobalt SS that I bought about 4 months ago with approximately 48.5k on the dash from a dealership, I have driven it to about 55.5k now i'm getting squeking noise from the brake area and only when im actually driving, If i slow down the noise disappears. Also when in reverse into the garage I hear a nasty screeching noising comming from the same spot. Do I need new brakes? I still have warranty on my vehicle till 60k

brakes are a wear and tear item, dealerships generally wont replace them, pull off the wheels and see how much pad is left through the inspection window on the caliper, if you do need new pads i would suggest hawk hp pads, great for street use and i believe there is a group buy or special on them right now

i would say yes... its stoping the noise when u stop because the pad is being forced to quite down.

i used to have a z24 97 cavalier and was able to spot if the brake pad was scratching on the rotor this 05 ss i can't tell from looking through the rim and i noticed the rotors looked scratched up so im guessin its the brakes. Also going in reverese sounds horrible so idk

Definately brakes. They have a wear indicator that "squeaks" when the brakes are low. The squeaking stops when you apply the brakes because you put pressure on the brakes.
