K&N made in USA, along with no CEL at all (could be the dealership cel-be-gone reflash)
I love it, blower screams, good boost in performance, looks good, install was pretty easy. Paid $180

K&N all the way, it's the American way . Injen, AEM, Fujita all sound like ricer brands . I've had my K&N on for months, no check engine light at all!!

I don't know why the others keep getting it.

Are people seeing more real world performance from the injen vs. the k&n typhoon? I would prefer to go with the K&N due to the fact that its built in the U.S.A, however if the injen is adding substantially more power, that might be the kicker.

If K&N made one for the 2.4 I would have gotten it. I still like my Injen though.

Theres not a big enough of a difference between the K&N and Injen to tell or really see a difference. I'd go with whichever you prefer.

Isn't the injen a 2 piece setup, and the K&N is just one single pipe from throttle body to air filter. Seems like the injen would cause a little more turbulence because it 2 different pipes. Just a thought.

I ordered the AEM for my 06 SS/SC and received about 5 days ago, paid $187, install was easy, CEL came on this morning on my way in to work. Power gain was noticeable.

My Injen just came in on Wed. the 4th. Installed it in about 1.5hrs and that included clean-up. Sounds AWESOME, def. gains, and the only issue I have is that the rubber grommet they give as a buffer pushes the intake pipe out to where it rubs a bit. Easily fixed by putting the slit on the intake on the inside of the grommet. I believe the problem is, in the directions it says as well as shows you to screw on the rubber buffer till it bottoms out. It does bottom out but not as far in as it shows in the pic. Hence the rubbing. Easy fix, and well worth the supercharger scream and hp gains. Thanks Aaron

What I want to know is:
Does the JBP intake throw a CEL?

I don't think it has the same CEL issues that the others "generally" seem to have. Anyone from JBP care to comment as to why to help us understand?

I'd prefer to go with JBP if I can verify that it is the best in terms of "no CEL" - the 3" complete system is nice too.

The Injen is a one piece pipe just like the K&N the only difference in the two is who makes it and the color.

What's the deal?
Here you go. Do to Gov emission laws GM had to restrict the air intake flow to get it to pass. now this dosn't mean it won't pass if you get the CAI, state emissions dif from state to state and when a car is first produced it has to meet Gov specs for its class. So the Cobalt was over built for its class, DAM,lol....

Back to the cel. when that light comes on thats do to the fuel running to lean, now the fuel runs off a points scale +/-18 is the cel. Now the stock air box has a 2by4 inch hole cut out on the top and 3 holes the size of pens on the bottom to drain water, now tell me how is the car going to breath with that. With the new CAI its pushing 17.5 points witch dosn't trip the cel, but do to the temp/humidity change in the weather is enought to push that .5 point and cause the cel to come on. For the most part its not a problem but you do want to look into getting the s2 kit to change the air/fuel mix.

very interesting explanation, never heard it explained like that but it makes sense completely. If the intake causes roughly 17 points of difference is there a formula to estimate HP gains for fuel added to compensate?
