OK...maybe dumb question
I keep hearing about people blowing up these ecotec motors and now Im wondering if this is something I need to worry about... All im gonna do to it is like the stage 2 kit and some other bolt ons-cai,exhaust,header... Am I gonna need to worry about this? Im still new to the cobalt since ive always had mustangs and f-150s.

Most of the people who blow their engine up either make bad decisions (This includes not making sure everything is running properly by logging), have more than the engine can handle done to it, or got unlucky.
Edit: Smart modification is the key. Make sure if you go any lower than the stage II pulley you match it with cooling mods. So if you go 2.8, you will need to get a dual pass for your intercooler and a second tank. Make some modifications for traction such as a urethane engine mount etc. etc. etc. you get the point.
Oh and run premium fuel or else your screwing yourself over.
No don't worry about stage II and some bolt ons. Although after seeing some datalogs off of stock cars I would recommend getting your ECU custom tuned and I think you would be golden.

take the hp tuners scan with a grain of salt. sure it's good for seeing whats going on, gives you an idea of how things are working, but it is not an exact number.
with stage 2, you are fine, gm warranties it for a reason.

There are hundreds of people running that same setup and no problems.
