saab 02-06 9-3 has 2 turbo versions on the 2.0 eco , although i think in 06 they droped the low boost turbo , and used the high boost as the lower model , and added the V6 turbo as the high end

The opel engine is very different to the SAAB engine. The SAAB is the one the LSJ is based on and the opel engine is europe only, different block, different head - all cast iron, belt driven cams etc....

I wasnt comparing the engine to a saab engine i was comparing it to the cobalt engine but like i said i wasnt certain. I know GM dont like to produce to many different engines for production cars so its worth a shot of the parts being compatable.

Well, the SAAB engine pretty much is the colbalt engine - different cams, manifolds and obviously it has a turbo instead of a supercharger.

The engine history goes like this:

Ecotec 2.2 (L61) -> SAAB B207R -> LSJ

The opel engine (probably its the ZLET you are referring to), doesn't feature in that history and is totally different. It preceeds the Ecotec 2.2, IIRC...
